Opening Doors at Fitch Ratings: Insight Day for Year 10 Girls
In June, Inspiring Girls UK was proud to be part of a brilliant Insight Day at Fitch Group, Inc. offices in Canary Wharf for Year 10 students from Cardinal Pole Catholic School. This was part of their Volunteers' Week, where Fitch staff are volunteer across their organisation.
The morning kicked off with a fast-paced speed networking session, where students had the opportunity to speak directly with a wide range of Fitch Group, Inc. professionals, exploring different roles, pathways and skills across financial services.
Thank you to Ladé Salam, Janvi Parekh, Yasmin Miah, Aurélie Hardy-Breen and Diane Talabi amongst others, for sharing their experiences and their work journeys.
A special thank you to Shakera Alam, also spoke with the students on her role as an intern and how she'd come to work at Fitch.
In the afternoon, we hosted an inspiring panel discussion led by our CEO, Amna Ahmad, featuring three incredible role models from Fitch:
Melissa Cloquet, MBA, Puja Karia and Leonie Dackham, CFA
Some of their brilliant wisdom included:
“You don’t learn anything new if you stay too long in the same role”
“Don’t compare yourself to others — keep an eye on your own"
“Challenges are sometimes opportunities in disguise.”
and that;
“Sometimes people see things in you that you don’t see in yourself.”
Huge thanks to everyone at Fitch Ratings for being such welcoming and generous hosts. Your commitment to inspiring the next generation is inspiring. And thank you to the students — your energy and curiosity made the day truly special and of course massive thanks to Jonathan Howard at Cardinal Pole Catholic School.
