Renasas Office Visit
🚀Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers & Innovators!
On Thursday 10 July, we were proud to welcome 27 girls from Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre in Reading to Renesas Electronics in Swindon for a day full of learning, curiosity, and career inspiration.
Hosted by Roz Wyllie UK Campaign Manager at Inspiring Girls and Michelle Williamson, Facilities Specialist at Renesas, the event included:
✅ A behind-the-scenes office tour
✅ A candid and inspiring panel discussion
✅ A hands-on STEM quiz
✅ A fast-paced speed-networking with Renesas role models
We were thrilled to welcome five incredible women sharing their journeys and advice:
Ruth Hayes (Director, HRIS)
Rebecca Tristram (System Architect, PWR)
Kessia John & Shenglun Hutton (Interns, UK ESF)
Seyda Aygın (Engineering Director)
Special thanks to Highdown School teachers Matthew Flynn, Maureen Elliot, and Elaine Robinson for supporting and encouraging the next generation and to Ally Jenkins at Renesas for all her help in organising the event.
What did the students take away from the day?
They told us they:
⭐️ Discovered how physics, maths—and even psychology—link to real-world jobs
⭐️ Learned that there’s no single path into engineering or tech
⭐️ Were inspired by how many women are thriving in STEM fields
⭐️ Got excited about the hands-on side of engineering, from lab tours to circuit boards
⭐️ Found out how small a semiconductor can be—and how important creativity is in tech
⭐️ Realised global companies like Renesas offer travel, variety, and purpose
⭐️ Loved the opportunity to speak with interns and hear honest, relatable advice
And yes—special shout-outs to the robot ‘Nao’ and the amazing hot chocolate machine! 🤖☕️
This event was a fantastic example of inspiration in action.
Thank you to everyone involved in creating a day full of insight, encouragement, and possibilities.
